# Nuclear projects drive 71% surge in India’s Q1 investment outlay

India's fresh investment plans in Q1FY27 surged 71% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 14.77 lakh crore, driven by four nuclear power projects worth Rs 6.5 lakh crore in Maharashtra, reports rediff.com citing Projects Today. Excluding these, investment plans declined 4.27% to Rs 8.27 lakh crore, and private investment (ex-nuclear) fell 31.88%. Central government capex rose 168% to Rs 2.72 lakh crore. Manufacturing, mining and oil-gas sectors contracted. The power sector saw a 507% jump, but renewable energy investment dropped 38.47%. A total of 143 mega projects (Rs 1,000 crore or more) accounted for 81.71% of new outlays. Private Indian investors contributed Rs 9.94 lakh crore (67.29%), while foreign private investment fell 26.4% to Rs 65,551 crore.
