They also say some units are close to village settlements and worsen concerns in a water-stressed district. Political leaders, activists and sarpanches from across party lines protested on August 1 and submitted a memorandum seeking action. The pollution board said eight abattoirs had received consent to operate, six no-objection certificates were issued in 2023, and inspections are planned.
