# Odisha flood: Baitarani, Salandi rivers keep villages on edge

The Baitarani and Salandi rivers in Odisha continued to threaten villages even as water levels fell slightly on Sunday. At Akhuapada, the Baitarani was flowing at 18 metres, below the danger mark of 18.33 metres, according to Odisha TV. The Salandi at Rajghat was at 16.10 feet against a danger level of 17 feet. However, breaches in embankments have left at least eight villages in Bhadrak waterlogged. Separately, the Deccan Herald reports that incessant rains from a low-pressure area have flooded parts of Balasore, Kendrapara and Jajpur districts, with authorities opening 12 gates of the Hirakud Dam. Three deaths have been reported and over two lakh people affected.
