# Low-pressure area over Bay, Odisha gets heavy rain warnings

A fresh low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department said. It will bring heavy rain to several northern and western Odisha districts for four to six days. The New Indian Express reports rain through August 14, while Odisha TV says till August 13. An orange alert has been issued for Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Sambalpur for very heavy rainfall. Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are expected. Odisha has already recorded 27 per cent excess rainfall since June. Low-lying areas in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Bhubaneswar remain waterlogged. Fishermen have been advised to stay cautious.
