# Odisha removes six-attempt cap for civil services exam

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has removed the six-attempt limit for the Odisha Civil Services examination. Hindustan Times reports that candidates from the unreserved category can now appear until reaching the upper age limit of 42 years. Earlier, general candidates had six attempts, SEBC candidates had nine, while SC and ST candidates had no attempt limit. Majhi also announced free textbooks for Classes IX and X, extending the existing benefit beyond Class VIII. Odisha TV reports that the state will introduce mid-day meals for students in these classes and take strict action against examination irregularities. The chief minister also cited Rs 21 lakh crore in investment proposals and around 2.5 lakh jobs.
