Two brothers were arrested in Odisha's Bhadrak district for allegedly showing their 60-year-old mother as dead in official records and transferring her house and land to their names, police said. Aisha Bibi staged a hunger strike outside the SP's office after learning her sons filed a false affidavit in 2023 while she was on pilgrimage, claiming she died 40 years ago and had no daughters. The revenue inspector submitted a report declaring her dead, and her property was transferred. Police registered a case on July 27 and arrested Sk Taufiq and SK Mujaidin. Aisha has six daughters.
