# Odisha unveils vision for Puri Coastal Marathon with Rs 1 crore prize 2026-10-04T23:16:50+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets The Odisha Department of Tourism outlined its vision for the Puri Coastal Marathon 2026 on Sunday, 4 October, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida in attendance. The marathon, scheduled for 13 December in Puri, is billed as India’s only event combining sand and road running, with a total prize money of Rs 1 crore. Speaking at the event, CM Majhi said Odisha wants to emerge as a leading destination for sports alongside its tourism identity. Cricket legend Kapil Dev, who was present, thanked the state government for its support for hockey and praised the marathon initiative, predicting Odisha would become known for sports. The event also felicitated athletes Baranica Elangovan and Animesh Kujur. ## Indian Opinion Analysis All three outlets reported the same event with near-identical facts and quotes, producing uniform coverage that is neutral in tone. Sambad English and The Hans India carried the fullest versions, including the prize money figure and Kapil Dev’s remarks, while NDTV gave a brief mention. None of the sources framed the story as a government announcement or as opposition criticism, they simply reported the marathon’s vision and the dignitaries’ statements. The only variation was length, not stance. The marathon is scheduled for 13 December 2026. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 3 neutral - sambadenglish.com (neutral report) Straight news reporting with no discernible slant - ndtv.com (neutral report) Very brief, factual wire-style report - thehansindia.com (neutral report) Factual coverage identical to Sambad English This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
