# Ola Electric offers discount on Shakti Gen2 home inverter 2026-08-20T14:21:59+00:00 | Business & Economy | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Ola Electric has announced an introductory offer for its Shakti Gen2 home inverter, available in 3 kW and 6 kW capacities. Customers can reserve the device for Rs 999, and select early buyers will get a discount: Rs 20,000 off the 3 kWh variant, bringing it to Rs 99,999, and Rs 25,000 off the 6 kWh variant, reducing it to Rs 1,74,999. Launched on 16 October 2025, the Shakti Gen2 is Ola's first non-vehicle product, marking its entry into the energy storage segment. The device uses in-house LFP cell technology and is described as a smart, portable, cloud-connected power backup solution for home appliances like ACs and refrigerators, with an estimated lifespan of eight years. The company is targeting India's Rs 1 lakh crore Battery Energy Storage Systems market. Alongside the Shakti Gen2, Ola launched Shakti Rack for commercial use and Mahashakti for utility-scale storage on 15 August, all based on indigenous LFP cell technology. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Ola Electric's move into stationary energy storage diversifies beyond its core electric vehicle business, tapping into India's growing demand for reliable power backup amid frequent outages and rising electricity costs. The BESS market, estimated at Rs 1 lakh crore, includes residential, commercial, and grid-scale applications, with government incentives under schemes like the National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell battery storage. The Shakti Gen2 competes with lithium-ion and lead-acid inverters from brands like Luminous and Exide, but Ola's in-house LFP cells could offer cost and lifecycle advantages. Key metrics to watch are initial sales volumes and customer feedback on real-world efficiency, as the company aims to build a domestic supply chain from the ground up. ## Coverage - livemint.com Straightforward product announcement with pricing and launch details, no editorial slant.
