The Madras High Court has ruled that only a parent or a person aged 60 or above can file a complaint under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. LiveLaw reports that Justice M Dhandapani set aside a District Collector's order at Kanyakumari directing Rs 6,000 monthly maintenance to a senior citizen. The court held that the complaint was not maintainable as it had been filed by someone not eligible under the Act.
