# Ayushman Bharat: 2,359 hospitals de-empanelled, 1,200 suspended

The government has de-empanelled 2,359 hospitals and suspended 1,200 others under Ayushman Bharat for guideline violations, Union Health Minister J P Nadda told the Lok Sabha on August 7. Penalties of Rs 328.49 crore have been levied and 29 FIRs filed against errant hospitals. The National Health Authority uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to flag suspicious claims within 24 hours, preventing losses of Rs 676.14 crore as on July 31, 2026. In financial year 2025-26, 3.75 crore Ayushman cards were created and 2.74 crore hospital admissions authorised under the scheme.
