About 60% of respondents said AI is used only in some parts of their business, while 18% have not decided and 6% are not even considering it. Only 16% have deployed AI company-wide as an integral tool. The poll, conducted by Nikkei Research for Reuters from July 29 to August 6, surveyed 510 companies; 219 responded anonymously. A government report this year found Japan lagging in AI adoption: 86.4% of local firms used generative AI for at least one task, against China's 98.1%, Germany's 91.6% and America's 90.9%.
