# Hyderabad Old City residents face 15-day drain overflow

Residents of Hyderabad’s Old City have endured overflowing drains for 15 days, with two areas worst hit. In Ghazibanda, a drain near the Dargah Hazrath Syed Sadath has spilled sewage onto the road, forcing schoolchildren and the elderly to navigate filthy water, Siasat reports. In nearby Chatrinaka-Uppuguda, a manhole overflows during rains, causing waterlogging and traffic snarls. Times of India adds that road restoration after drainage work has been limited to patchwork. Locals have demanded that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation permanently fix the blocked network and remove illegal sewage connections. An official said the GHMC plans to widen the Chatrinaka-Uppuguda road. The problems have also exposed a neglected community hall at Uppuguda, now occupied by stray animals and feared unsafe.
