# Pacer Naman Tiwari takes 6/13, best figures in UPT20 League history 2026-08-27T00:19:07+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Left-arm pacer Naman Tiwari, 20, delivered the best bowling figures in the four-year history of the Uttar Pradesh T20 League on Monday night, taking 6/13 in 3.5 overs for Noida Kings against Gorakhpur Lions. His spell, which included three wickets in four balls in the middle overs, featured consistent speeds of mid-140kph and helped his side win by four wickets. Tiwari previously played in the U-19 World Cup in 2024, where he took 12 wickets and emerged as India's most successful fast bowler in the tournament. He was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 1 crore this year. Though he did not play an IPL match this season, he trained alongside bowlers including Mohammed Shami and Avesh Khan under mentor Zaheer Khan. "Every match after the U19 World Cup taught me different lessons," Tiwari said. He finished the 2025 UPT20 League with 19 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 16.26, ranking fourth among wicket-takers. The previous best figures in the tournament were Kartik Tyagi's 6/35 in 2023. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The UPT20 League, now in its fourth season, has become a launchpad for UP's fast-bowling pipeline. Tiwari's trajectory mirrors that of Kartik Tyagi and Avesh Khan, both of whom graduated from this tournament to the IPL and national reckoning. For Lucknow Super Giants, who paid Rs 1 crore for a pacer yet to play an IPL match, this spell validates their long-term investment in uncapped talent. The UP Cricket Association will watch whether he can maintain this form across longer formats, with the Ranji Trophy season beginning in November. ## Coverage - hindustantimes.com Tiwari's career arc reported with positive framing, highlighting personal quotes and team strategy without criticism This brief was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
