# Peace in border areas of utmost importance, MEA tells China

The Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday that maintaining peace along the India-China border is of 'utmost importance' and that incursions by Chinese troops are among the 'most serious' issues. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the state of border affairs 'will reflect on the state of our larger bilateral ties'. The remarks follow reports that People's Liberation Army troops crossed the Line of Actual Control at Pukar La and Ollo in Upper Subansiri district, Arunachal Pradesh, around August 5-6. China's foreign ministry said the border situation is 'generally stable' and both sides have agreed to maintain communication. Jaiswal reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an 'inalienable and integral part of India' after Beijing rejected India's move to rename 27 places in the state. Arunachal CM Pema Khandu denied any fresh incursion on August 7. The Indian Army had similarly dismissed identical claims in late June.
