Piligao locals block ore transportation for nearly 3 hours

Bicholim: Claiming that several accidents have taken place on the road from Sarmanas to Piligao junction in Bicholim due to the ore transportation, irate residents of Piligao blocked the ore transport for nearly three hours.Panchayat member Swapnil Phadte said that mud has been saturated on the main road due to the ore transport activities and that the rain has made the road swampy.He said that in the past, the locals had raised their objections when the mining company had decided to carry out mining activities on the main road. However, during that time, the authorities ignored our demand, he added.The locals demanded that the mining firm find a solution to solve the issue and to clean the road immediately and maintain cleanliness throughout the day.
