Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75-minute Independence Day address on Saturday was his shortest in four years and fourth shortest overall, PTI reported. He delivered his 13th consecutive speech from the Red Fort on India’s 80th Independence Day. Modi’s longest address lasted 103 minutes in 2025, while his shortest was 56 minutes in 2017. His 13 consecutive speeches have taken him past Indira Gandhi’s record of 12, placing him behind Jawaharlal Nehru’s 17. Earlier prime ministers also delivered brief addresses. Manmohan Singh spoke for 32 and 35 minutes in 2012 and 2013, while Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 2002 and 2003 speeches lasted 25 and 30 minutes.
