# Rooftop solar installations cross 16,300 daily under PM Surya Ghar

Daily rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana rose from 5,000 in October 2025 to over 16,300 in July 2026, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday. The Hindu reports the pace increased 3.2 times in nine months, while BusinessLine puts the latest figure at more than 16,300 a day. The scheme now covers over 50 lakh households, with about 19 lakh receiving zero electricity bills. More than 12 lakh households earned Rs 421 crore by selling surplus power in 2024-25, or about Rs 3,500 each. The scheme closes on March 31, 2027.
