Researchers tracked more than 1,000 patients across 12,583 outpatient visits at a South Korean medical centre between 2021 and 2024. They matched monthly levels of six pollutants with disease outcomes. PM2.5 alone was linked to higher disease activity scores, tender and swollen joint counts, and increased flare risk. Exposure lasting more than two weeks also raised flare risk. The association with disease activity was stronger among women and non-smokers.
