In the first week of August, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) pumped in a net Rs 12,290 crore into Indian markets, with equities alone drawing Rs 12,921 crore, as per NSDL data. August 5 saw the strongest single-session inflow of Rs 9,323 crore. FPIs also invested Rs 622 crore in debt under the general limit, but saw outflows from other debt routes. Separately, the portfolio management services (PMS) industry recorded net inflows of Rs 3.55 lakh crore in June, a sharp recovery from Rs 4,085 crore in May, according to the Association of Portfolio Managers in India. The industry's assets under management rose 1.8% to Rs 43.27 lakh crore, and the client base grew 4% to 2.20 lakh accounts. Domestic investors accounted for 95% of total AUM.
