The police have begun a probe into the recent financial transactions and call details of actor Shine Tom Chacko, a day after he was released on bail after being interrogated in connection with an incident in which he allegedly fled a hotel at Kaloor here during a raid by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) late on Wednesday night.
He had been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act Sections 27 (b) (consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance) and Section 29 (punishment for abetment and criminal conspiracy), which are bailable charges.
As per the first information report, he was staying in the hotel room either for using drugs or to conspire about it. Mr. Chacko was accused of fleeing the hotel with the intention of avoiding giving evidence to the DANSAF team.
The probe team has also intensified the search for a Malappuram native who is suspected to be a supplier of drugs and reportedly has links with those in the film industry, it is learnt.
