Corroboration: 2 independent outlets

Jubilant FoodWorks, which operates Domino’s Pizza in India, reported a 6% rise in first-quarter profit on Thursday. Revenue at its Popeyes fried chicken chain jumped 97% to Rs 70 crore. CEO Sameer Khetarpal said Popeyes is now a second growth engine, with like-for-like sales growth exceeding 40% driven by product innovation and store expansion. The company aims to build Popeyes into a Rs 1,000-crore brand in three to four years. Domino’s same-store sales grew 2.5% in the June quarter, up from 0.2% in the preceding quarter but below the company’s long-term target of 5%-7%. Khetarpal said the company is making progress in reviving dine-in traffic through dedicated leadership and store promotions. He expects the second quarter to be stronger with the onset of the festive season. Analysts at Motilal Oswal said the QSR sector recovery is gradually strengthening.
