Porter Airlines flight PD444 from Victoria to Toronto was cancelled on Thursday night after a toddler refused to wear a seatbelt. The aircraft had already left the terminal and was taxiing toward the runway when crew saw the child standing in their seat. The parent and crew could not secure the child, so the plane returned to the gate. The affected family and their luggage were removed. Refiling flight plans and completing paperwork took so long that the airport's runway closed at 12:30 a.m., stranding passengers overnight. Porter apologised and rebooked them for the next day. The flight finally departed Friday evening and arrived in Toronto early Saturday, according to FlightAware.
