Potholes on Shahad flyover after repairs, locals protest

Thane: Troubled by potholes, locals near the crucial Shahad railway flyover connecting Kalyan and Ulhasnagar on National Highway 61 held a protest. People sat in them and protested, demanding action against the contractor responsible for the poor quality of the road.Just a few days after the rains, large potholes had emerged on the flyover. After a complaint from the locals, BJP MLA of the area, Kumar Ailani, inspected the flyover and instructed the department concerned to fill these potholes immediately.Every year, this flyover is in bad condition during the rains, so this year the road was repaired by spending lakhs of rupees to prevent inconvenience during the rain. However, despite the repairs, potholes have emerged everywhere on the flyover. Seeing the bad condition of the road, local resident Yogiraj Deshmukh and others were seen sitting on the pothole-filled roads, holding placards, blaming the local MP and MLA for the poor condition of the road. Deshmukh said it is a matter of shame that the govt repaired this road recently, and later, due to rain on just a few days, potholes emerged on this flyover that it is difficult for motorist to drive.
