Against a sanctioned strength of 645 posts in the ministry, only 444 personnel are in position. Across nine state-run power utilities, 3,338 of 42,533 sanctioned posts are vacant. SJVN has the steepest percentage deficit at 38 per cent, while NHPC has the largest absolute number of vacancies at 1,063.
