The new district office complex, Praja Soudha, will be inaugurated on Friday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The basement-plus-three-floor building will house over 35 different offices and departments.

Preparations have already started for Friday’s inauguration programme, with workers erecting pandals and making other arrangements at the office complex in Padil. While the inauguration is scheduled for the afternoon, the district in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will arrive in the morning to supervise the final preparations.
The basement of the complex would house Mangalore One, the Department of Economics and Statistics, the post office, the police outpost, the canteen, Karnataka State Forest Industries Corporation Ltd. (KSFIC), a bank branch, a treasury and strong room, and a few shops.
The ground floor of the Praja Soudha would house an information desk, a public interface centre, KSFIC, employment exchange, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Nigama, Town and Country Planning Department, Member of Parliament office, Mangaluru (Ullal) MLA’s office, district in-charge Minister’s office, District Registrar and Deputy Commissioner of Stamps office, Food and Civil Supplies Department, district child protection unit, district treasury, ground water office, child helpline and Mines and Geology Department.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to inaugurate Praja Soudha on Friday.

On the first floor, offices of the Deputy Director of Land Records, Endowment Assistant Commissioner, Bhoomi cell, Additional Deputy Commissioner, auditorium, Deputy Commissioner, disaster management, Endowment tahsildar, District Urban Development Cell, election section and legal section would be located.
The second floor of the Praja Soudha would house the offices of the Karnataka Government Insurance Department, D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation, Khadi and Village Industries Board, record rooms, the Tourism Department, the Pension and Small Savings Department, KSFIC, the Forest, Environment and Ecology Department, Nirmithi Kendra, the Forest Settlement Officer, and a meeting hall.
Mr. Rao had earlier stated that those offices notified to be housed in Praja Soudha would be relocated in a phased manner.
