A SC/ST Court in Nalgonda sentenced a man to undergo ten years of rigorous imprisonment for causing the deaths of fifteen farm labourers by recklessly driving a tractor without a valid licence.

The court also slapped a fine of ₹5,000 each on the two accused in the case.

The primary accused, Aluru Venkatanarayana, aged 51, a resident of Lakshmipuram village in Guntur district, was convicted under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as well relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).  He was sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹5,000.

The second accused, Dulipalla Nageswara Rao, aged 41, a resident of Ravipalem, Peddanandipadu mandal in Guntur district, was also fined ₹5,000 under Section 181 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
