The Centre has raised Rs 59,083 crore from disinvestment and asset monetisation in FY27 so far, exceeding the Rs 80,000 crore target set for miscellaneous capital receipts, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary told the Lok Sabha. The amount includes Rs 52,716 crore from disinvestment through offer for sale of PSUs including LIC, Coal India and NHPC, and Rs 6,367 crore from asset monetisation. In FY26, the government collected Rs 45,306 crore from these sources, surpassing the revised estimate of Rs 33,837 crore. That year, disinvestment receipts stood at Rs 16,886 crore, while asset monetisation brought in Rs 28,420 crore. The improved revenue is expected to cushion the impact of the West Asia conflict on the domestic economy, Business Today reports.
