# Punjab, Haryana CMs set out women’s empowerment and jobs agenda

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann declared 2026 the year of women’s economic freedom, saying 65.62 lakh women had received Rs 2,274 crore under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said nearly 10 lakh women had received Rs 2,042 crore under the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, which provides Rs 2,100 monthly. Mann also cited 69,000 government jobs, expanded canal irrigation and cashless healthcare. Saini claimed more than two lakh government jobs over nearly 12 years and announced policies targeting Rs 5 lakh crore in investment and 10 lakh jobs over five years. Both leaders made the claims in Independence Day speeches.
