# Punjab to train 21,850 teachers to fight student drug abuse

The Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab has launched a training programme for over 21,850 teachers across 12 districts as part of its anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nashean Virudh'. The initiative aims to equip teachers with skills to identify early signs of mental health issues and drug abuse among students. Training began in Fazilka and Tarn Taran with over 800 participants. The programme follows a pilot in Amritsar where more than 2,800 teachers were trained and 75% reported feeling motivated to create healthier school environments. Sessions will be held in 500 batches starting August 2026, supported by NMBA and NAPDDR.
