# PV Sindhu replies to critic of her Bathukamma celebration 2026-10-19T06:22:06+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has responded to an X user who criticised her Bathukamma celebration, saying her silver vessel was a gift from her mother-in-law to welcome her into the tradition. Sindhu said this was her first Bathukamma, as she married into a family from Karimnagar, Telangana. She added that she spent the day decorating a large floral Bathukamma visible in the background. The exchange began on Sunday, 18 October after user @KDRposts posted a photo of Sindhu carrying a silver Bathukamma and accused her of altering the floral festival’s customs. Sindhu replied that critics should understand tradition before passing judgment, and that a mother’s love and tradition can coexist. Her response drew widespread praise on social media. ## Indian Opinion Analysis All three outlets report the same exchange factually. Deccan Chronicle leads with the phrase ‘shuts down troll’ and frames the incident as a confrontation, while CNBC-TV18 and Rediff use the neutral verb ‘responded’. The core facts, Sindhu’s explanation, her mother-in-law’s silver Bathukamma, and the X user’s criticism, are identical across the sources. Rediff adds that Sindhu is in Paris for the French Open, a detail of limited relevance to the main story. The coverage is uniform wire-style reporting, no outlet questions any party’s account. The story carries no next step beyond the social-media closure. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 2 neutral, 1 sensationalist - deccanchronicle.com (sensationalist) Lead uses 'shuts down troll', framing as confrontation - cnbctv18.com (neutral report) Straight factual report, no editorial framing - rediff.com (neutral report) Adds Paris context, otherwise neutral restatement This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
