The flyover will form the lower deck of Delhi's first double-decker viaduct, with a metro line running above. The sanction, issued on August 6, follows approval by the Expenditure Finance Committee chaired by chief minister Rekha Gupta. The project covers the Karawal Nagar, Ghoda and Brijpuri junctions and is expected to be completed by end-2025. The project is part of the 12.32-km Phase IV corridor extending the Pink Line. Construction had stalled for nearly two years before the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation received permission from the Delhi forest department in December 2024 to fell trees along the alignment. The metro section above the proposed flyover has been operational since March 2025.
