Corroboration: 3 independent outlets

Former India captain Ajinkya Rahane has praised Shubman Gill's development as a leader, saying the young skipper is improving with every series. Rahane highlighted Gill's confidence, tactical maturity, and player management as signs of growing leadership. Speaking on Sony Sports Network's expert panel during India's New Zealand tour, Rahane noted that Gill's batting form, which has taken him to the top of the ODI rankings, has strengthened his self-belief. Gill has backed that confidence with a record-breaking double century in ODIs against West Indies in September and twin centuries as captain in a Test against England at Edgbaston. India are currently playing a five-match ODI series against New Zealand, having won the first match on Wednesday, 4 November. The New Zealand tour will be followed by home white-ball series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, with crucial World Test Championship points at stake.
