Enforcement Directorate (ED) director Rahul Navin has been given a one-year extension by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. His tenure now runs beyond August 13, 2026, up to August 13, 2027, including service beyond his superannuation date of July 31, 2027, or until further orders. The 1993-batch IRS officer joined the agency as Special Director in November 2019, took additional charge as ED chief in September 2023, and was confirmed in August 2024. During his leadership, the ED has pursued high-profile investigations into the I-PAC political consultancy, the Reliance Anil Ambani Group, online gaming firms, and real estate frauds. The agency has also focused on restoring attached assets to victims and reducing long-pending litigation under the repealed FERA.
