# Rahul Gandhi rejects ‘fantasy conversations’, demands Shah answer firing

Rahul Gandhi on Monday rejected the government's offer of a full discussion on student protests, demanding instead that Home Minister Amit Shah first clarify who authorised the alleged firing of pellet guns at protesting students in Delhi on June 20. He also called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologise and for accountability over an alleged theft from the Ram Mandir. The Congress leader said the Opposition was not interested in 'fantasy conversations' and accused Shah of either being guilty or incompetent. The government countered. Union Minister JP Nadda denied any firing occurred at Jantar Mantar and accused Mr Gandhi of shifting goalposts to disrupt Parliament. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said Mr Shah was ready to respond but urged the Opposition not to create disturbances. Parliament has been adjourned repeatedly for 15 days due to the deadlock.
