The basic supply network is poor, and infrastructure has not kept pace with the city’s growth. Currently, the city receives less than the minimum quantity prescribed by the Central government. Many wards do not get water daily, and in summer supply drops to once every four days or even a week. The RCC has 23,600 illegal water connections against its official count. Water from Rampura lake is treated at poorly maintained purifying units. Of 48 overhead tanks, 12 remain unused due to technical glitches.
