# Medico Priyanka Dies After Hit-and-Run in Rajahmundry

Dr Karake Priyanka, a first-year postgraduate medical student at GSL Medical College in Rajahmundry, died on Sunday at a private hospital in Secunderabad, days after a hit-and-run. KIMS doctors confirmed her death at 3.25 pm. Priyanka had been declared brain dead at GSL Hospital on August 3, the night she was struck twice by a car while riding pillion. East Godavari SP D. Narasimha Kishore said police will seek custody of the two accused, Suravarapu Daswanth and Andrew Joseph Edwards, now in judicial custody till August 21. Daswanth, an engineering graduate, was driving the car. The case is registered under culpable homicide not amounting to murder; charges may be altered based on further investigation. Priyanka, a native of Kurnool district, had enrolled in her MD course in February.
