Days earlier, on August 3, two intoxicated youths allegedly rammed their car into two medical students near Prasad Aditya Mall; victim Priyanka was declared brain-dead. A July 28 murder of rowdy-sheeter Ganesh also remains under investigation. Residents across several neighbourhoods say late-night disturbances and lax policing have made the city unsafe. They have demanded round-the-clock surveillance and better monitoring of known offenders. Police have promised intensified patrolling, and the SP said counsellings have been held with identified rowdy-sheeters.
