# Rajasthan govt school students launch own newspapers

At a government school in Tonk, Rajasthan, students from Classes 10 to 12 produce their own newspapers to counter the lack of access to news in their village. PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Raholi, publishes 'Raholi Shiksha Samachar' in Hindi and 'Raholi Education Times' in English, both in print and online. Students handle news gathering, photography, writing, editing, and layout, with teachers acting as mentors. Principal Dr Yogendra Singh Naruka, a journalism graduate, started the initiative in 2023 using his own funds after noticing few students received newspapers at home. The print edition comes out monthly or quarterly, funded voluntarily by teachers. Copies are distributed free to students to read about school activities and achievements.
