# Rajasthan IPM cumin earns farmers 24% premium

Farmers in western Rajasthan using integrated pest management and good agricultural practices are getting about 24% more than the market price for cumin, according to The Hindu BusinessLine. The approach also cut procurement costs by 25% to 35% per acre in demonstration fields by managing fungal diseases and insect pests. A DBT-funded Biotech-KISAN Hub project, run by SABC and ICAR-NRCSS from 2019 to 2024, helped produce about 35,000 tonnes of IPM cumin. Stakeholders believe this could rise to 1 lakh tonnes. The programme included training, field demonstrations, inputs and buyer links through farmer producer organisations. Overseas demand is supporting residue-free production, while expansion will require more funding, NRCSS said.
