# Rajasthan minister joins sanitation workers’ protest, Congress, BJP workers clash

Rajasthan Minister of State for Forest Sanjay Sharma staged a dharna outside the Alwar Municipal Corporation on Wednesday to demand appointment letters for sanitation workers selected in a 2012 recruitment drive. Congress workers led by district president Prakash Gangawat joined the protest, sparking a clash with BJP supporters inside the municipal commissioner's chamber before police intervened. The workers' union had agreed to 69 of 329 appointments, but municipal authorities allegedly backed out, ignoring a 2019 Rajasthan High Court order. After five hours, Additional District Magistrate Yogesh Dagur brought five appointment letters, which the minister handed over. He said the remaining letters would be distributed on August 16. Congress leaders, including former CM Ashok Gehlot, accused the BJP government of a corrupt and powerless bureaucracy.
