# Rapido gets 5-year cab licence in Karnataka, valid till 2031

Rapido has secured a five-year cab licence from the Karnataka State Transport Authority, valid until August 2031. The licence, issued under the Karnataka On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016, lets the company expand its cab services across 21 cities in the state. Rapido says it supports over 3.14 lakh captains and 2.04 crore registered customers in Karnataka. The company has also been included in the state's Urban Mobility Mission. Separately, Rapido agreed to cover full medical costs of a Bengaluru woman, Sani Krishna, who became bedridden after a bike-taxi accident on June 17. The Times of India reports the company will process the entire expense through its insurer, waiving the Rs 1 lakh policy cap. Her treatment cost over Rs 20 lakh. Rapido called it an exceptional case.
