Rs 10 and Rs 20 polymer banknotes are likely to enter circulation at the beginning of FY28, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said, according to The Times of India. The Reserve Bank of India is preparing field trials after receiving government approval. The Centre has allowed the RBI to print two billion polymer notes for the initial trials, the government told Parliament on Monday. The RBI has also floated a tender to source the material. IndiaTV News reports that people will have to wait longer before the notes become available, without giving a more precise timeline.
