# Parliament adjourned as Opposition seeks Amit Shah’s statement

Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day on Friday after Opposition protests demanding Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on the July 20 police action against students marching towards Parliament over the alleged NEET paper leak. Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan had told Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday to echo the Opposition’s sentiments and consider its request. Rijiju said on Friday that this was only an observation, not a direction, and accused the Opposition of misleading the House. The Lok Sabha passed the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 without debate during the disruption. The New Indian Express also reported protests over alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Rijiju said Shah attends Parliament daily, while the Opposition wants him present in the House to respond.
