The 356-metre-long, 12-metre-wide bridge is expected to be ready by December 2026, according to The Hindu. It will replace a bridge washed away three months after opening in September 2024, when the Water Resources Department released over two lakh cusecs from Sathanur dam after Cyclone Fengal rains. The new structure is being built 300 metres from the old site and will stand 10 metres above the riverbed, against four metres earlier. It will include footpaths, lights, drainage inlets, reflectors and approach roads. Residents of 20 farming villages currently face a detour of at least 30 km to reach nearby towns.
