# RSS wing urges boycott of US firms over Russian oil tariff threat

The US Senate has approved a bipartisan bill authorising President Donald Trump to levy tariffs of up to 100% on countries that make significant purchases of Russian oil. India is named as one of the five target economies. In response, the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM), the RSS’s economic wing, has urged New Delhi to stand firm and called for a boycott of US companies and a unilateral ban on US tech and social media firms. However, an Indian government source told Reuters that while the bill is a concern, talks so far have been reassuring. White House Trade Adviser Peter Navarro said Trump and Prime Minister Modi will resolve the issue through direct engagement.
