# Rubio says US-India ties stronger than ever

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated India on its 80th Independence Day and said ties between New Delhi and Washington were “stronger than ever”. He credited the personal relationship between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rubio cited cooperation in defence, energy security, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, space and commerce. US lawmakers and governors from both parties also sent greetings, while recognising the Indian-American community’s contributions. The messages came as Prime Minister Modi led Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in Delhi. Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov separately reaffirmed Moscow’s support for India and India-Russia friendship.
