The rupee extended its winning streak for a third straight session, closing 11 paise higher at 95.88 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday (July 28, 2026), supported by lower crude oil prices amid easing West Asia tensions. Earlier in the day, it had touched an intraday high of 95.63, and the currency had gained 35 paise in early trade at 95.64, The Hindu reported. The dollar index was slightly up at 101.46, while Brent crude traded 2.63% lower at $86.04 per barrel. Forex traders noted that foreign capital outflows and a stronger dollar ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's decision capped gains. On Monday, the rupee had surged 54 paise to close at 95.99, and FIIs offloaded equities worth Rs 1,688.23 crore.
