# Russia, India deepen Arctic ties with Northern Sea Route talks

India confirmed it is in discussions with Russia on the Northern Sea Route, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday. The route along Russia's Arctic coast offers a shorter Europe-Asia link than the Suez Canal. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin named India and China as key partners for developing the Arctic corridor. A Russian foreign ministry official, Vladislav Maslennikov, told state-run TASS that dialogue with India and China on Arctic cooperation is the "most productive", as both countries have resources for joint projects.
