# Salman Khan’s 2012 prediction on Emraan Hashmi resurfaces after Awarapan 2 hit 2026-08-20T07:03:29+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet A 14-year-old video of Salman Khan calling Emraan Hashmi an underrated actor has gone viral after Hashmi's latest film Awarapan 2 crossed Rs 150 crore at the worldwide box office. In the 2012 clip from the music launch of Ishkq in Paris, Salman said Hashmi deserves his due as 'a damn good actor' and a 'sellable name.' The clip has resurfaced as social media users celebrate Hashmi's career resurgence. Awarapan 2, released last Friday, has earned Rs 153.59 crore worldwide, making it the sixth-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2026. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, the sequel stars Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. The two actors later shared screen space for the first time in the 2023 hit Tiger 3. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Awarapan 2 has taken the sixth-highest-grossing Hindi film slot this year, a feat that bolsters Emraan Hashmi's standing after a decade of mixed box-office returns. The sequel's Rs 153.59 crore worldwide haul, against a reported budget of around Rs 50 crore, marks his biggest solo hit since the Murder franchise. Salman Khan's 2012 remark now carries weight because it came from a peer with no commercial stake in Hashmi's career at the time. Whether this momentum sustains depends on Hashmi's upcoming slate, which includes a thriller directed by Shoojit Sircar set for a 2027 release. ## Coverage - news.abplive.com Leads with a viral social-media angle and a celebrity prediction rather than box-office analysis or industry context This story was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
