Corroboration: 2 independent outlets

Former England all-rounder Samit Patel praised Virat Kohli's chase mastery and called Rohit Sharma one of India's best leaders and 'the hitman'. Patel spoke to ANI at the World Championship of Legends 2026 in Dubai after Kohli crossed 15,000 ODI runs. Patel affirmed Kohli, Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Steve Smith as cricket's enduring Fab Four. He tipped Australia, India, England and South Africa as likely 2027 World Cup semi-finalists. The England Champions team faces Australia Champions on Wednesday (14 October) in their final league-stage match.

## Indian Opinion Analysis

Both outlets ran near-identical wire copy quoting former England all-rounder Samit Patel on Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, the Fab Four and his 2027 World Cup semi-final picks. The coverage is uniform straight reporting with no editorial slant. The livemint version adds a paragraph on Patel's warning about teenage batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, which rediff omits. The practical takeaway from Patel's remarks is that India, Australia, England and South Africa are the names to watch with the 2027 World Cup roughly a year away.
